Cops. A Horror Story...

There are 668,288 cops of all flavor employed in the United States of America.  Only.

That's as of 2019, and the most recent stats I could find.  But we had 708,769 of our men and women in blue way back in 2008.  Seattle is down more than 500 officers right now.  And the Democrat Party's recent "Defund the Police" movement has surely contributed to a 10% - 15% reduction in their total force as of today.  While our population is growing steadily.  Especially with unvetted "visitors" from 185 different countries, so far. 

Even Burkina Faso, if you can believe it.

So the Big Blue Cities eliminating the limited immunity of their police.  And their Soros-installed D.A.'s are turning perps loose faster than the cops can finish the booking papers.  And in many cities they cannot even chase criminals if they choose to run away.  Or drive away.  

Their police are responding by bolting for other locales.  Even suburbs just outside the cities they just left.  Sort of a Big Finger to the folks who treated them like garbage.  But the net effect of treating the criminal like they are the victims has resulted in our grandest and oldest cities becoming human wastelands.  One cannot go a block in downtown Lost Angeles without encountering encampments of the homeless.  Poor, lost addicts shooting up in broad daylight.  Defecating in the doorways of (previously) fancy, white tablecloth restaurants.  Where the expected diners are now absent.  

Even Los Angeles County's Sheriff, Alex Valenzuela, has advised his citizens not to come to downtown L. A. if they can help it.  And if they do, leave their wristwatches and rings and other jewelry at home, don't drive the Lamborghini, and just Uber-it.

And all that's on top of the "war on cops" we see unfolding on the streets of our major cities today.  More than 250 cops have been killed so far this year, and at least a dozen were assassinated!   But what are they to do when the city councils which control their work lives secretly seem to hate them, and prove it with every law they pass.  Think Portland, and Seattle, and Sacramento, and Lost Angeles, and Chicago, and Philadelphia, and Baltimore, and New Orleans, and New Yawk.  

Yes, New Yawk.  The previously safest big city in the country.  Where you now take your life in your hands every time you ride the subway.  And they tax you out of your socks if you try to drive. 

The "3%" of Bad Guys that were historically kept at bay by a small but vibrant police force...have now seized the upper hand.  The Visigoths are at the gates (Google it).  And we don't have the trained, fully-supported police force to counteract them.  Thank you "wokeness."  

Oh yeah, and here's some more really interesting stats.  Did you know that 89.1% of our population lives in cities of greater than 50,000 population?*  And that if they wished to increase their chances of living through errant gunfire, all they'd have to do is move?*  To a smaller town? 

And did you know that 59,849,899 of our citizens live in our 100 largest, most urban cities?**  Or did, as these are the cities which are losing population faster than all others.  But how about this:  59,492,267 of our citizens live in what our Gubmint calls a "Rural" area.  Not small, but smaller than these big cities.  Or, what they used to call, "Flyover Country."

And that's where many of the cops who've been forced to leave the Big Blues are winding up.  Running to.  Places like Pierre, SD.  Or Salina, KS.  Or Hastings, NB.  Or Rifle, CO.  Maybe they'll earn a little less, but the citizens will love to have them there, they'll be treated like pure gold, and it will sure cost them a lot less to live.

And they may even get to keep on living...
